Next, to become a real estate agent, in most states you will have to pass an exam to receive the license. Call your state’s real estate commission board or governing body that is certified in your state to issue real estate licenses. Find out what are all the requirements of obtaining a license. At this point you will want to start looking into setting up a fax number so clients can reach you. Most likely, you will have to get a criminal history report from your local or state law enforcement agency and pay a fee to take the real estate course. Be honest when filling out your state’s real estate application for the license. Your application will be denied if they find out that you submitted false information.
Then, you must get a satisfactory score on the real estate exam to become an agent in most areas. The classes may require anywhere from 60 to 75 hours of class room instruction and some states have approved courses that you can take online. Make sure that you register with a school that is approved by your states real estate commission board. Study hard and complete all the required coursework. Pass your state’s real estate exam. Finally, contact a broker in your area and ask them what kind of fees real estate agents have to pay if they sign up. For example, some brokers may require you to pay fees for phone use, copier use, and office space.
